I just finished the second episode last night... not loving it... but by god I'm going to finish the season*
*unless it gets even more REALLY GROSS than it did in ep2; not sure I could take much more of That

Date: 2019-05-23 07:08 am (UTC)It's definitely on the grimmestdarkest end of the grimdark spectrum, rather in the vein of the recent Ordeal by Innocence adaptation, which is... not really my thing, generally (though I did actually love OBI, but I think that's because it wasn't a Poirot mystery in the first place?), and in a lot of ways, contrary to the game-playing spirit of Golden Age mystery novels, which is one of the things I love about them. It's not by any stretch of the imagination a shiny pretty interbellum period piece (though that said the sets are glorious).
Two episodes in there are some major changes to characterisation and plot which are... striking... I don't know yet if they'll change the culprit from who dunnit in the novel as well? Also, trigger warning for episode 2 where there is some very unpleasant, bloody (literally) kink and generally viscerally unpleasant imagery; feel free to ask for details by DM if you would like.
I would dearly love to hear what you think of it, if you ever get round to watching it! not to mention your thoughts on AC adaptations in general, especially the most recent spate of them.
Ooh, and it appears my fave Agatha Christie acafan has a review of the whole series here; I'm going to save it til I've seen all the episodes but I bet he has some great stuff to say.
