- loving on Tiny Foster Kitten #2--Saint Nicolas Cage, Nicki for short--who is bigger than Tiny Teddy and SO FRIENDLY, she is determined to win over the other cats (who are rather dubious about it all but I think they're getting there)

- playing BEAT SABER which is incredibly fun even if it does mean you look like this

- dreamily planning new crochet, knitting and craft projects from the making-stuff magazines I got for Christmas

- eating delicious leftovers

What a nice Boxing Day! Currently am drinking tea and frowning discouragingly at the stuff I wrote last night ... we're getting to the point of Family Togetherness where I have to manage my crankiness very carefully but I have arranged several outings for myself to catch up with friends who also live in my hometown, so that will be really nice. Plus, we are going to see the spidermovie later.

We have two outings today--I forgot about the first one, which is Pip and Mr Jupin-Lude going into the city to see the Christmas windows with Mr J-L's ratbag father--and then we're going to have a 'relaxed hang out' with some friends of Mr J-L's and their two kids... knowing these people they have NEVER had a 'relaxed hang out' in their entire lives but we'll see. Tomorrow is definitely going to be a very quiet day at home or Pip will short circuit for sure!

I definitely prefer today to Christmas day, because it's usually so much less hectic and you don't have to cook. Crochet and knitting patterns are always really good gifts! I hope you find some fun projects.

Also, wow, you foster kittens? That's so exciting! I've thought about doing that but it's never seemed practical.

One of the magazines had a pattern for a crocheted pincushion shaped like a tree stump, with mushrooms and moss and flowers on it SO GUESS WHAT I'M MAKING RIGHT NOW

Do you crochet/knit? I'm only a novice knitter whereas I've been crocheting for almost a decade and am very confident with that, so not being good at knitting yet is driving me a bit nuts

Fostering kittens is something we have just fallen into over the last month--we took Tiny Teddy for a week when my colleague (his official foster carer) had to travel, and then when Jude saw the photos of little Nicki in a cage where she was going to be stuck over Christmas if they couldn't find a carer for her... well it was a bit of a foregone conclusion :D

The pin cushion sounds amazing! I'm the opposite of you: I've been knitting for a long time, but I've only started to crochet in the past few months. My wife and I are making a granny square blanket -- I can't get over how fast crochet is compared to knitting.

That's so sweet! I'm glad you took them on. I'm always afraid if I foster kittens that I will never give them back.

Oh! Is crochet actually faster? I thought it was just that I am so new to knitting so of course I'm slow... but if it's not just me....! :D

I love making blankets, and granny squares are one of my favourite things ever! I'd love to see photos if you ever feel like sharing

Crochet is definitely faster! I went to a crochet class once, where the teachers described crochet as a speed boat and knitting as a ferry. Obviously, you do get faster at knitting as time goes on, but I'm amazed by how rapid crochet is, even as a novice.

I'll definitely take photos some time. I'm incredibly bad at keeping tabs on what I make, but we have around 70 granny squares now, so I'll have to have a record of that.
